Meet Dr. Pelaez Annicelle

Vilma V. Pelaez Annicelle, DDS


Dr. Vilma Pelaez Annicelle grew up in Woodside, Queens and graduated from Fordham University in 2000. She then went on to work as a Physician Office Assistant in the Lymphoma Department for three years in NYC's  Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center before attending the University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine where she graduated in 2007. There she received a minor in Oral Diagnostic Sciences with a focus in TMJ dysfunction. Following graduation, she completed a General Practice Residency at the Brooklyn Veterans Affairs Hospital in Brooklyn, NY.  Dr. Pelaez Annicelle has received a multitude of awards during her career including the Eleanor Bushee Award and Pierre Fauchard Scholarship for academic excellence and outstanding leadership and Stephen Totten Memorial Award for her significant work in oncology.

Born in NYC, Dr. Pelaez Annicelle is of Ecuadorian decent and is fluent in Spanish.

In her private life, Dr. Pelaez Annicelle enjoys traveling especially to Walt Disney World and spending time with her husband, Dr. Donny Annicelle and their son, Eric. She enjoys visiting her family in her native New York City, walking, playing tennis, barre, pilates, yoga, bowling, expressing her artistic skills photography or enjoying a relaxing evening watching a movie at home. She is a certified Holistic Life Coach, Reiki Master Teacher certified in Usui, Holy Fire III, Karuna and World Peace Reiki, 200hr Yoga Certification in May 2021, certified in Restorative Yoga and a Divine Sleep Yoga Nidra Graduate. She teaches a monthly Restorative Yoga with Reiki workshop at Yoga from Heart in Avon, CT and The Bridge Healing Arts Center in Farmington, CT.   Dr. Pelaez Annicelle is also the owner of Delphinium Healing and Wellness, a center dedicated to self care and well being. She loves to incorporate mind, body and spirit wellness in her dental practice. 

She is a certified Invisalign provider and has training with digital scanning which is the new standard of care in the industry. Dr. Pelaez Annicelle is trained in Bioclear, a conservative method to enhance the your smile using warm composite injection molding.  She is currently finalizing her Bioclear Black Triangle certification. 

More than anything, Dr. Pelaez Annicelle has always been motivated to learn and is always seeking out new methods and materials that are available. She is an active member of Spear online continuing education, a leader in clinical excellence and practice success. She has special interests in TMJ Dysfunction, the relationship between of sleep disordered breathing and Sleep Apnea and the role that Oral Cavity plays in the oral-systemic link. Recently, she achieved her certification as a Verified Airway Dentist. This is a new and growing field that focuses on the structure of the mouth and how it impacts your breathing, sleep and overall quality of life. Airway Dentists look for risk factors like tooth wear, the position of your tongue, and the condition of the soft tissue in your mouth which may indicate sleep-disordered breathing. The goal is to identify patients with early signs of sleep disordered breathing especially in our smallest patients and help prevent the end stage epidemic of sleep apnea. Sleep apnea is correlated diseases like high blood pressure, stroke, diabetes, mood disorders, dementia.  Airways Dentists work in conjunction with a support team consisting of sleep physicians, Ear, Nose and Throat physicians, myofunctional therapists, orthodontists and oral surgeons.


 Dr. Pelaez Annicelle is a member of the American Dental Association, American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine,  Connecticut Dental Association and the Hartford Dental Society.
